Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Skin Buffet Oxygen Rich Anti-oxidant Gel  5 lippies on 2/7/2011 4:33:00 PM

One word: AMAZING!!!! I will continue to buy this product over and over and over again. If GoW ever stops making this I will be absolutely devastated!! I do not normally write reviews but I just wanted to share my experience with this product in hopes of helping someone. I have been on Benzaclin (prescription BP) for about 10 years. I finally got fed up with the Benzaclin drying out my skin so I started doing research. The lovely MUAers on the skin board pointed me towards GoW and I started reading the forum on their website. I took their advice and slowly started to wean myself off BP ( and yes, I was nervous about doing so!). When I was finally off BP, I started applying the oxygen rich gel every morning at the same step I would normally apply BP. The oxygen rich gel just sinks right into the skin and does not leave any residue. I was so thrilled that day after day my skin started to look better, feel less dry, be less flakey and best of all: no new breakouts! I've been using this product for over a month and have had only had one pimple, ONE! I was amazed! I've struggled with acne since I was 16 (I'm now 26) And (TMI) but I credit that pimple to my cycle :\ Also, my one pimple was tiny and was gone within 2 days. Simply amazing! If you are looking for something other than BP for acne give this a try!! You will not be dissappointed!!!

Sigh. Really wanted to love this cream - wonderful ingredients and smells delicious. However, my oily, acne prone skin did not like it and clogged like crazy. It does work wonderfully as a hand cream, so at least it did not go to waste.

Toners -Garden of Wisdom - Strawberry Hydrating Mist  5 lippies on 1/31/2011 8:19:00 AM

Have you tried a thousand different moisturisers, with oils, without oils, thin and thick, with silicones, without silicones...but they just never seem to really moisturise your skin? Then you might have dehydrated skin like me, which needs more water before you put on your lotion. Any pure water will help, like the Avéne Thermal Spray or even just mineral water from a bottle. Considering you can get a whole litre of pure water for very little...why should you purchase something like this strawberry hydrating mist? First of all, because of the scent. This is the scent of sun ripened, freshly picked strawberries that to me is summer. The real deal, that just makes me close my eyes when I spray it on my face and imagine warm days (winter here right now). Secondly, because it doubles as a gentle toner containing witch hazel and willow bark to help calm and gently exfoliate skin. This is especially important if you like me have to shave to keep looking like a man since ingrowns happens so easily. It also contains aloe leaf juice and tamarind seed extract, which helps to really calm the skin when it is a bit irritated which pure water just doesn't do (I've tried). Lastly, it contains strawberry fruit distillate. I don't know about your skin, but my clog prone, dehydrated skin really loves anything strawberry. It is like magic for my skin. Now, it does become rather expensive over time considering I go through about half a bottle of this a month, spraying 8x2 times a day (morning and night). But for the scent of summer, for how it feels on my skin, and the nice effect on my pores I gladly pay the 10 dollars or so a bottle goes for. Oh, and the best thing? It comes in two sizes. One small 1 oz bottle that I always keep with me, for whenever I need a refreshing spray during the day, and a large 4 oz bottle that I keep on my vanity.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Mandelic Acid Serum  5 lippies on 1/30/2011 3:08:00 PM

I love this and have recently realized I need this in my routine! I was using the 10% without alcohol or seaweed for months and my skin looked amazing. Then I ran out and didn't reorder for whatever reason and my skin started looking dull and blah, and I even had a breakout or two (I rarely breakout anymore). So I bought this again and my skin is back to it's pretty, exfoliated "normal" self. This, along with another treatment, had gotten rid of my melasma and kept my skin smooth and perfect. I will definitely rebuy and make sure not to run out!

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Emu Oil  5 lippies on 1/27/2011 9:30:00 AM

I keep coming back to emu oil. I've used it for some years now and it it keeps my skin balnced like nothing else I've tried. I've got sensitive, dry, dehytrated skin with hormonal acne. Garden of wisdom offer a good product to a fair price.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Mandelic Acid Serum  5 lippies on 1/18/2011 4:54:00 PM

HG! This stuff rocks! There is nothing better for fading old dark acne spots. I have used Retin-a for years. I have tried TCA peels (great for line reduction, but did nothing for melasma). Two weeks of this serum (dabbed on the spots on my cheeks and chin) and they 50% lighter. It is amazing.

Toners -Garden of Wisdom - Pineapple Hydrating Mist  5 lippies on 1/18/2011 1:17:00 PM

This is for the Pomegranate hydrating mist--- excellent, has black willow bark (for salicylic acid) , rose water, pomegranate distillate-- and no fillers! no wonder why it's a bit pricy (but hey, not as pricy as some of the toners out there), but totally worth it, my skin is so much better, gives me a pink flush, i spray it on before i moisturize.

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Coconut Revival Cream  5 lippies on 1/15/2011 8:00:00 PM

I have rosacea so I have a hard time finding moisturizers I really like. I purchased this about six months ago, and though I confess I do not use it religiously (sometimes I forget!), it has really kept my skin feeling and looking smoother and healthier. It helps with the little pimples, the roughness, and the myriad of ailments that older, sensitive skin tends to encounter, and it does not make my skin feel anything except comfortable. I generally use only a small amount -- about the size of a nickel -- and that seems to do the trick, but even if I use more, I don't experience any problems with the product. If you are looking for a sort of "do it all" product, this just might be the one for you.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Rosacea Serum  5 lippies on 1/12/2011 5:36:00 PM

I really love this serum! It really helps with redness in my cheeks and it feels really good on. I also thinks it helps with keeping away blemishes and blackheads but that could be from something else I'm using. but whatever it is it's thanks to Garden of Wisdom because almost everything I use is from them :)

I wanted to dropby and say after using Garden of Wisdom's lemongrass cleanser...I was fairly dissapointed. I didn't have bad skin to begin with..just afew small blemishes. I started breakingout badly after using it for about 1 week. I gave the product the benifit of the doubt and used it for about 2 and a half weeks and no luck.. Im pretty mad because I had to wait for shipping because I ordered online... dont waste your time on this..

I ordered a bunch of products from Garden of Wisdom I thought I would give it a try I heard people on forums talking about it abit. Boy was I disapointed. None of the products did much for me... This one was probably the best out of all because it didn't make my skin any worse off. I might try another Mandelic Acid supplier and see how that goes.. Otherwise back to proactive !

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Coconut Revival Cream    5 lippies on 1/4/2011 3:02:00 PM

This cream is just pure perfection for skin like mine, that is really rather close to balanced if a bit clog prone and dehydrated. The problem with balanced skin is that washing it tends to disturb the balance, but not washing it properly results in build-up that results in breakouts. Thus, a cream needs to restore the balance which this cream does perfectly, vanishing into the skin as if it belonged to it leaving behind it just healthy, balanced skin needing neither more nor less of anything. If you, like me, have tried dozens of different creams, then you can imagine how amazing it feels when the skin actually feels perfect after your facial routine and LIKE SKIN. Not like skin coated in anything, just supple skin. Anyhow, for application, I like to first mist my face and then mix a fingernail nails worth, if even that, of the cream with about as much of an HA serum. This creates a rather thin lotion that spreads easily over my skin and soaks in totally within a minute. The small sample size has lasted me about 1 1/5 - 2 months of twice a day use, which is very good value for money.

I was turned onto Mandelic Acid through my gf who uses it. I'm 18 and have mild acne which I have pretty much under control. I've taken medications such as Bactrim in the past so my skin is a little sensitive. I like the results of mandelic acid products as oppose to other products such as proactive and clearasil etc. My skin doesn't feel overly dry after use. I order from Nucelle.com. I think they're based out of the U.S. Shipping is reasonable and had pretty good service too.

I love the skin motivator serum, but I have to get the one without the bisbolol because I'm allergic to it. This is a great light serum to add under my other treatments or moisturizers. It totally reduces redness, evens skin tone and somehow seems to help my skin become more resilient. It helps reduce redness in breakouts and they seem to heal faster when I dab this on. I will not be without this serum again. Love it!

Love, love, love of my life! I've only been using this product a little over 2 weeks- and the results are amazing. After just 2 days of use- my fiance noticed a brightening in my skin tone, which said it all. If he noticed it must be doing A LOT right! I been having problems with discoloration on my face for yrs now- no amount of concealer really works to cover it, yet being self-conscious i would try my best. I never thought after such a short time span this would bring my skin back to a level where I DONT HAVE TO COVER UP anymore. Yes, the areas that bothered me before are still not completely gone- but man have they faded! It says to use the serum as a spot treatment, but I have been applying it all over- and my overall complexion has improved at least 5 fold. It def. does lighten and BRIGHTEN like nothing else out there.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Simply Tea Tree Serum        5 lippies    12/2/2010 10:12:00 AM

AWESOME alert!! This product is a little miracle for my aging-but-still-breakout-prone skin. A serum that is non-oily but still moisturizing (for me), full of amazing actives (like tea tree(treats blemishes, purifies), neem(Indian wonder herb for the skin), seabuckthorn extract (good for rosacea) and manuka honey (gentle soother and acne treatment). Strong but fresh, pleasant herbal scent that dissipates quickly. Somehow they have managed to mask the rather unpretty neem scent, and soften the tea tree scent. I like the bracing, invigorating fragrance. Not only have my breakouts disappeared, my skin just looks fresher and better. Younger. I swear that this combo has anti-aging effects too, but the company doesn't market it for that, just as a blemish serum. But it is so much more. I always have TWO backups of this in the fridge, because i absolutely positively have to have this for use twice a day. Desert Island HG product.

Toners -Garden of Wisdom - Coco-Fen Clarifying Tonic        5 lippies    12/2/2010 9:57:00 AM

I am a skeptic when it comes to toners. For years, I went without any, but was convinced to try Cocofen by the superb reviews it got. Wow, this stuff is wonderful. First, it is a lovely, beautiful light scent. After cleansing, it returns skin to normal pH faster. When I use it, my skin stays moister and less break-out prone. I also spritz it on my face in the morning (instead of washing) and anytime I need a refresher during the day. It is supposed to also be very mildly exfoliating, a nice additional benefit. I keep a big bottle in the fridge, and decant to a small spray bottle weekly. Wonderful!!

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Niacinamide - [powder]        5 lippies    11/23/2010 8:09:00 PM

I purchased my niacinamide from GOW about 2 years ago and have been using it mainly as an additive to my homemade DMAE serum. Niacinamide as a topical treatment has some pretty solid research behind it, showing improvements in acne, rosacea, and skin repair. More info can be found here: http://www.smartskincare.com/treatments/topical/niacinamide.html I am interested in niacinamide mostly for it's anti-aging attributes. Using daily in serum form, I have noticed a marked improvement in skin tone and texture, some softening of lines, and lessening of hyper-pigmentation spots. The niacinamide from GOW is dirt cheap. I paid around $10 for my bag and I can't see running out for several years, you need so little to make a solution. Niacinamide is also one of the key ingredients in the pricey NIA24 skincare line, as well as some of the newer Olay lines (ProX, regenerist, definity). Most of these products list in the mid-$20s. My daily serum costs me about $.50 to make. You do the math.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Niacinamide - [powder]       5 lippies    11/23/2010 1:56:00 PM

I guess not a lot of people know about this product from GOW! I bought it a few years back hoping it would help with dark spots. Initially, it worked really well, but as I have learned since then, a rich nutritious diet is the key at making your skin glow. I have cleaned up my diet pretty well and now that my skin is looking really nice, I have added GOW's niacinamide powder to my facial lotion at night, or I even add it to my avocado oil and the next day my face is brighter and even toned. I love this stuff. I am sensitive to vitamin C, so this is a much gentler alternative that my skin reacts to nicely. I think it only cost like $15 for a nice sized baggie. Check them out!

Toners -Garden of Wisdom - Coco-Fen Clarifying Tonic        5 lippies    11/23/2010 12:54:00 PM

I have always been suspicious of "toners" not thinking they had anything to offer except another made up step to squeeze your wallet. This one is lovely. Soothing and leaves my sensitive, rosacea skin comfortable. It smells like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter or some other kind of fake butter but I can totally overlook it. I am waiting for reorder right now.

Cleansers -Garden of Wisdom - Mild N' Clean Castile Cleanser        4 lippies    11/22/2010 3:29:00 PM

As the GOW website claims, this product is extremely gentle. I didn't get the reddened, flushed skin that I get with regular cleansers. I purchased this product because I was intrigued by the simple, lovely sounding ingredients- 100% Castile Soap, Seaweed Extract, Seabuckthorn Seed Oil (supposed to right rosacea mites), Orange Essential Oil, Citric Acid and Optiphen. It has a creamy consistency and a mild orange scent that reminded me of that orange mop cleaner stuff. I used this only in the mornings, as it doesn't remove makeup at all, for about 3 weeks or so. During that time, my skin started to break out in that red, bumpy rash I associate with my rosacea acting up, which is strange because this product is supposed to be formulated to help rosacean skin. I discontinued using the product and after 2 weeks I noticed the bumps were clearing up. To be fair, the cleanser lives up to its claims; it is a gentle, detergent free, non foaming, moisturizing cleanser. My skin in general did feel soft and smooth, but there is just something in there that doesn't agree with my skin. If you have sensitive skin or are just searching for a mild cleanser then this might be for you. But, if you have rosacea, then proceed with caution. Although I liked the way it felt on my skin, it's performance left something to be desired, so it's not a rebuy for me.

This is a great cleanser for oily/acne prone skin. This has helped a lot in reducing blackheads. Your skin definitely feels much cleaner after using this. It is great for summer time use. However, I usually reduce this to nighttime use in the winter since I live up North where the winter brings extremely dry skin. Highly recommend this one, the version with glycerin. Did not break me out at all. For $20, the product will last you for at least 6 months so not too bad at all.

Great antioxidant. Did not break me out. This is great to use along with light and bright for intense brightening of hyperpigmentation or just overall brightening of the face. I love GoW overall, but this new product is great.

Treatments -Garden of Wisdom - Rosacea Serum        4 lippies      11/17/2010 12:09:00 AM

Love this stuff. It saved my skin during my last flare. My skin gets irritated and even itchy as well as dehydrated and red. This has helped so much and gotten things down to a tolerable level. Since some people said that this helped their acne, I should add that I have acne as well and this didn't do anything for it. But I suspect that my acne is a separate issue from my rosacea. The only real drawback is the price, with .5oz ringing in at 20 dollars. But I'll gladly pay for it as long as it helps keep my skin under control.

Blue Mallow HA [hyaluronic acid] Serum:

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this stuff has transformed my skin. I LOVE it. I apply this after washing my face to slightly damp skin and follow with my moisturizer once the serum has dried (after 30 seconds or so). Hyaluronic acid really is a miracle product for my super dry skin. Normally this time of year with the furnace going and wind blowing, my skin is red, parched, and flaking off in large, disgusting chunks. Using this serum 1-3 times daily, my skin is soft, smooth, plump, and supple looking. I have not experienced any flaking since I began to use this. The best part, however, is the blue mallow ingredient. I have rosacea and ultra sensitive skin. The Blue Mallow serum instantly calms my skin and reduces redness and any papules. With continued use, I am noticing that the redness in my cheeks is fading and I am less prone to breaking out in itchy irritated bumps from any of a million causes throughout the day.  I cannot say enough abou this product. I highly recommend it for anyone with dry, sensitive skin and/or rosacea. I use it 1-3 times daily depending on how often I apply moisturizer and after a couple months have had no irritation, clogged pores, or breakouts with it.
Dirt cheap at gardenofwisdom.com, and samples are available.    5 lippies

Out of the three GoW HA serums I've tried so far (this one, Immortelle, and Myrrh) I like this one the most. They're all great but the Blue Mallow is better for my dry, rosacea, and acne prone skin. HA serums can give my skin a tight feeling from the film they form but Blue Mallow is moisturizing and even when I use it alone without mixing with a carrier oil, I don't get a tight feeling. It takes the redness away from my face and soothes inflammation and really helps heal any bumps. Immortelle and Myrrh HA's also benefit my rosacea but their only drawback is they're not as moisturizing :)
Bottom line: I can't say anything bad about this product. It holds hydration in my skin and is very healing.

I use this at night - after putting it on I immediately apply avocado oil (unrefined, also from GoW). The two together are the best night moisturizer I've ever used - calms and nourishes, and I wake up with simply healthy, happily glowing skin. Tried just using the avo. oil, but it wasn't quite the same, though it is lovely in itself. Don't know if anything aside from the HA in this really does anything, but as form of topical HA at a good concentration, I think this is excellent, esp. at this price.
I have dry skin, and this would NOT be a stand-alone moisturizer, it dries quickly and is tightening - it is truly a serum.  GoW has a thumbs up from me thus far - I appreciate their simple packaging and straightforward products. No need for glass jars with glittery lids and proprietary font for me.    5 lippies

CoCoFen Clarifying Tonic:

Love, love, love! I can't say enough about this wonderful little company! This is so far my favorite "mist." I keep it in the fridge so it is a refreshing burst of scent and moisture anytime. After cleansing, before moisture/serum, and after applying mineral makeup. It gives a nice "set" to the minerals. I can't find a way to describe the scent, other than to say this has coconut and honey, but don't expect it to smell exactly like either of those. It is a slight food scent, but not strong and I find it particularly soothing. There's no perfumes or artificial ingredient, so the scent will be different than anything you've experienced before. I love how my skin feels after exfoliating and then misting this on with a light oil on top of that (yes, they have oils for oily, acne-prone skin!!). I am in love with this company's product, mainly due to the personal service they will give on the phone and through email. The first time I ordered, I was concerned with one of the serums I received, sent an email, and got not only an email, but follow-up phone calls to be sure I was happy and comfortable with the products. Another lady with her own website who also has products on GoW's site, Jen, spent a lot of her time emailing me about specific ingredients and what would work with my skin concerns. Amazing to say the least... by the way, I have oily, acneic skin that is starting to calm down with age, some sun damage(discoloration) and the Coco-Fen feels light, soothing, and comfortable for me.     5 Lippies

This is one of my favorite products from GOW. I have super-sensitive skin and I can use this toner without a problem. I was told this can be used as mild exfoliation (for my crazy sensitized skin) and I use it after cleansing a couple of time of week. It does not contain any alcohol and the fragrance is very mild and disappears almost immediately. I use it on a cotton pad and I have already re-purchased it 3 times. I highly recommend it as a very mild exfoliator and toner for anyone with super-sensitive skin.    4 Lippies

Crisp Apple Hydrating Mist:

One of my favorites from GoW! I love using this (or any of their mists) after applying mineral makeup for a beautiful finish... the scent of Crisp Apple is my only dislike... I buy their products for the lack of artificial perfumes, so it's not much of a complaint. The quality of the ingredients is amazing! I adore their Coco-Fen Clarifying Tonic ***** hopefully, I'll be able to review that one soon! GoW is a bit pricier, but for the quality, the uniqueness, and the hands-down best customer service anywhere... it is well worth it. I could spend hours on their website, just reading and dreaming! Just now put in another order and I can't wait!    4 Lippies

Crisp Apple Hydrating Mist might by some be considered little more than water but for me it has made all the difference between happy, hydrated and almost clog free skin and unhappy, flaky, dehydrated, clogged skin.  I bought a bottle four months ago, and have used once-twice daily since then and ran out just yesterday. I do not drench my face, but just mist it so it becomes damp and then I apply serums, moisturisers and so on. Spraying my face with this not only helps my other products go on smoother, and thus I use less of them, but it also helps my skin to get that extra boost of hydration that it needs.  You can easily test if you would benefit from a mist by using purified water. The reason I like the hydrating mists better than just pure water is the added benefits that the fruit concentrates bring to them.    4 Lippies

Jen's Green Tea/Shea Cleanser:

I learned about GoW from MUA and have been using these products for about 6 months now. I love this cleanser for my combo/acne prone skin. I alternate this cleanser and a scrub and love the green tea cleanser because it is so gentle on my skin. It foams with water and a little goes a long way. I use it after my cleansing oil to remove any traces of oil/makeup, and it leaves my skin very soft--never tight. I will definately re-purchase.

I ordered a sample of this in the Mild formula since I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my skin and wanted a soothing and mild cleanser. It feels very soothing and hydrating and leaves my skin very soft and relaxed. The product itself reminds me of something snot-like, but it doesn't have scent or color added to it and washes makeup off very well. I'm trying out a few other cleansers in the meantime but I'm definitely keeping this one in mind for repurchase.    5 lippies

I've used both the regular and gentle version of this cleanser and find that both work great for me. I don't find it especially hydrating but I moisturize after anyway so not a big deal for me personally. I've used several cleansers from GoW and this is one of my favorites. No breakouts and not too harsh. It is a bit pricey for a cleanser but I only need one pump per use and it lasts me quite a long time. I usually reorder every couple of months so you get your moneys worth. I'm not in love with the pump, it clogs up often, but easy to fix under warm water. I often rotate this with the Blue Azulene cleanser and will continue to reorder them both. I've used GoW cleansers for 2 years and will not go back to drugstore brands.    5 lippies

I have been using this product for about a year now. This is a great natural cleanser and does not cause me to break out. My face was baby smooth the first time using it. This cleanser removes all makeup and does not make my skin dry afterward. I would recommend this product among with other GoW products. I have switched to natural skincare ever since I discovered GoW. The company makes good quality products and their customer service is top notch.

Nice cleanser. Did not break me out, which makes it worth using, and did not make my face feel tight or dry. I give GoW five stars for customer service... Jen will go out of her way to answer emails, questions, offer suggestions...    4 lippies
