Our Soothing Cleansing Gel is a gentle surfactant and 100% soap FREE cleanser. This is an all-around soothing cleanser for any skin type. We wanted to offer a cleanser free of surfactants, soaps, and solvents. Soapnut herb and yucca herbal hydrosol will gently cleanse your skin, while wild cherry bark hydrosol and marshmallow root infusions lend themselves to soothe your skin.
*Due to this product using our fermented preservative Leucidal SF - it can continue to ferment, which lends itself to a fermentation scent. This won't always be present if a batch has just been made. If this is an issue, ask us to scent it, please!
Method of Application Dispense about a dime to nickel size amount of cleanser into the palm of your hand, drip warm/hot water into your palm then rub hands together to emulsify. Pat into skin, wipe off gently with a wet, warm cotton or bamboo clean washcloth. Do not massage into your skin. Only cleanse in the A.M. if necessary.
Shelf Life and Storage Information for Our Products and Ingredients
Finished Products - generally don't need to be refrigerated as they are preserved, but you can refrigerate them to extend their shelf life. The shelf life for most products is 9-12 months. Vitamin C Serum(s) and VitaResurface products should continually be refrigerated to extend their shelf life. Sample Sizes - do have a shorter shelf life (generally 3-6 months), and items in jars can dry up quicker than this if the lid is not tightened well enough (Vitamin C Serums - use within 90 days).
Please keep your products out of humidity, heat, direct light and in a dark cabinet when possible:
Exfoliating Acid - products have a shelf life of 9-12 months. The only things we don't suggest refrigerating are the Mandelic Acid Serums or Salicylic Acid Serums, as they can crystallize in the refrigerator. If this happens, you can set the product into a hot water bath to see if the crystals will dissolve.
Additional Items That Require Refrigeration and/or Kept in the Dark:
Hydrosols and Distillates - remove 1 ounce of hydrosol and add it into a separate,sterilized spray bottle and spritzer. Keep the larger bottle in the refrigerator. Carrier and Exotic Oils - generally, you can refrigerate all carrier oils, although some very rich oils will solidify. This is fine. All you have to do is take it out, warm it up at room temperature and it should liquefy. If not, set the bottle in a hot water bath and occasionally shake the bottle, which will hopefully turn into a liquid. There are some oils with a super long shelf life, like Coconut Cream and Jojoba Oil.
Refrigeration is not necessary, but it surely won't hurt:
Essential Oils - essential oils are best stored in a cool, dark place. Co2 Extracts - these should continually be refrigerated. Butters - we suggest refrigerating our "skincare" butters. You can remove what you need and keep the rest in the fridge. Clays - keep in a dry, dark place. Shelf life is at least 2 years. Herbs - all herbs (whole or ground) should be kept in a dark, cool and dry location. Herbal (liquid) Extracts - these are created using alcohol. The alcohol pulls the constituents (properties) from each herbs - root, trunk, leaves, and flowers. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years. They can be kept in the refrigerator or a dark place. Other Raw Ingredients - i.e., Sodium PCA, Honeyquat, Oat Beta Glucan, etc. will all have a different shelf life.
Yucca Root Hydrosol full of saponins this root has been used by Native Americans as shampoo, to treat hair loss and dandruff while helping to relieve scalp sores
Xanthan Gum natural thickener
Leucidal SF(Lactobacillus Ferment) non-irritating, effective preservative system for extra protection against yeast and mold, effective at preventing the growth of fungus, specifically yeast and mold, thus providing additional protection for formulations using natural preservatives systems
AMTicide® Coconut is created by fermenting Cocos nucifera (Coconut) fruit with lactobacillus to deliver a non-irritating, effective and multifunctional preservative
I used to use Vanicream cleanser for my sensitive skin but this works a lot better for my skin and doesn't cause any reactions. Important to remember that it wont remove makeup (as the bottle says). I use a warm washcloth first to wet and gently exfoliate my skin, then use a coin-sized amount and mix it up in my palms and then pat it all over my face. Then i use a warm washcloth to gently remove it from my face. Then, I splash cold water on my face to close my pores and rinse off any possibly remaining product.

Gentle on skin
I tried this as a natural alternative to Cerave cleansers. It was gentle on my skin and not drying. I'm used to the foam of those cleansers so I missed that but I know it's not great to have those chemicals in your skin care.

Gentle cleanser for sensitive skin
I am very sensitive to products and have to be careful with what I use on my skin. My skin tends to react to many things, it is maddening. I started using this cleanser recently and so far have not had any reactions. My skin is not red or irriated by using it, nor is it drying or overly moisterizing. My skin just feels clean after using. I am happy with this cleanser, and just bought another bottle recently.

Best Product I’ve Ever Used
I’m not exaggerating with my title. I have eczema and it was always a fight to prevent it from inflaming my cheeks and forehead. Other products would burn and irritate, and did little to relieve the dry skin, irritation and unattractive flakes. I’ve been using this product for a year now, and this is the best my skin has looked! I am very very happy.

Effective and gentle
It turns out I have sensitive skin, and have been unknowingly using the wrong cleansers for years... cue accidentally stumbling upon the GOW brand, and essentially a life changing consultation with Jen... and now I will never not have this cleanser in my possession. It is incredibly gentle, but effective (on make up free skin I mean). My skin never feels stripped or dry after using it. In fact, one night I mistakenly applied a bit of the cleanser on my freshly washed face, thinking it was my cherry healing serum... I then put the ceramides and oil on top and went to sleep. I realized my mistake the next day, and my skin was totally fine. No dryness or tightness. No big deal at all. I don't recommend any of you do that LOL, but I think it goes to show how non-irritating the ingredients truly are. Thank you so much for making these products!
This is my (Jen) favorite cleanser also :) There are no surfactants or soap in this cleanser, so it for sure won't strip your skin. We're glad you love it! You could actually leave it on with no side effects for this reason.
